The musical compositions of Richard Burdick

Opus 22:

Chamber Symphony # 3 “Luxor” for twelve winds, opus 22
This was premiered on the Trinity Chamber Concerts series around 1986
Movement two "The Well" is part of my early studies into I Ching scales. In my first few compositions (and a box of un cataloged works is storage in California) I found too much freedom just does not work. Limitations of some sort are necessary. Scale limitations have done well for me. The Well ( I Ching #48) remains one of my favorite Hexagrams.
Movement five: G. A. C. T. B. is a result of my studying alchemy. The book the Science of Alchemy from 1927 out lines the universe in terms of dimensions we belong in the fourth dimension of time or "Becoming" above that is Time, Cosmos, Aeon and God. For this I wrote a slow deeply thoughtful work using G, A, C, ? and B.
